A Fintastic Experience for Kids!
The WAVE Foundation at the Newport Aquarium is offering an awesome week long day camp experience for children ages 6-13. The Finstitute Summer Camp promises to be a fun and educational adventure for your child. Register today for a “Finstitute” of fun this summer.

Finstitute Camp is a unique experience.  This is the only camp around where campers can have fun touching sharks and penguins, exploring the Ohio River, making crafts and playing games all while discovering the wonders of the natural world and making new friends.

Before Care and After Care

The WAVE Foundation is happy to offer before care and after care to families that are unable to drop-off at 9am and pick up at 3pm each day.  For an additional fee, arrangements can be made to drop-off as early at 7:30 a.m and pick up as late as 5:30 p.m. each day.

Before Care: 7:30 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. - $15 per day

After Care: 3:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. - $25 per day

Register for both Before Care and After Care for just $30 per day!


SOLD OUT   Week 1: Partying with the Penguins: June 16th-20th, 2014            

Eblast_Photo1.jpgCome waddle about with everyone’s favorite tuxedo-clad bird! Campers get up close to these creatures as they engage in encounters with all the penguins the Aquarium has to offer. Learn about their habitats, adaptations and their amazing artistic abilities! Everyone will leave with Penguin art and a week’s worth of penguin fun!

Special Highlights: Penguin Encounters, Snack with the Penguins, Penguin presentation by a Newport Aquarium Penguin Biologist, Penguin Art, “Happy Feet” special showing, Ride the Ducks, Penguin Scavenger Hunt, Penguin Crafts and much more!

 


Week 2: Scales and Tails: June 23rd-27th, 2014   9:00 am - 3:00 pm  

Picture8.jpgSlither, hop, and scurry through the week with the aquarium’s gators, snakes, lizards, and turtles! Campers will get a hands-on experience they will never forget. Discover facts about the different species with biologists, watch a Mighty Mike feeding, and meet our exotic animals from our outreach room. Don’t worry…no snakes on the Duck boat though!

Special Highlights: exotic animal encounters, Cornhole tournament, special Mighty Mike feeding, Ride the Ducks, reptile scavenger hunt, reptile crafts, dive shows and much more!


Week 3: Sports of All Sorts: July 7th-11th, 2014   9:00 am - 3:00 pm                              

Picture37.jpgEach day is a different sport at the Aquarium! Campers will play Penguin Putt-putt and some gator-inspired basketball on the aquarium's special courses. We will also go to a Cincinnati Reds baseball game and learn a little Cincinnati sport history at the Reds Hall of Fame and Museum.  Campers will leave with a fun and unique experience that combines the world of sports and the world under the sea!

Special Highlights: Penguin Putt-Putt, Attend a Cincinnati Reds Baseball Game, Visit the Reds Hall of Fame and Museum, Gator-ball, “Sandlot” special showing, Ride the Ducks, Behind the Scenes Tour, Sports Crafts, Games across the River at Sawyer Point Park.


Week 4: Animal Planet: July 14th-18th, 2014   9:00 am - 3:00 pm   

Picture19.jpgGo wild with animals from all over the world! Learn about special biomes and ecosystems that appear in each continent like the rainforests of South America or the savannahs of Africa! Campers will learn about animals that play important roles in each ecosystem and how important it is to protect this wild world of ours.

Special Highlights: Special showing of Planet Earth, animal encounters, specialized food web games, crafts, Ride the Ducks, in depth exploration of the different areas in the aquarium, a presentation from our Zoologist, geography themed scavenger hunt and more!


Week 5: Partying with the Penguins: July 28th-Aug 1st, 2014   9:00 am - 3:00 pm

Picture25.jpgShow us a big toothy grin and learn everything there is to know about the kings and queens of the ocean! Campers will get an up close encounter during a special shark feeding. Hear what it’s like to swim with the sharks daily from the aquarium divers. Learn about sharks of all kinds, and campers get to pick a favorite shark to present on at the end of the week!

Special Highlights: special shark feeding, Shark talk with our Shark Biologist, Shark petting, Ride the Ducks, Shark scavenger hunt, shark crafts, Shark Tale movie, shark bingo, dive shows and much more!
